  • This is a unique opportunity to have a real say in how your community manages its resources and money in a safe environment where you can live, work, and get to know your neighbours.
  • To live in the Eco Village is to embrace the rich tapestry of life interwoven by both organized and impromptu activities.
  • The regular gathering of young and older people at seasonal markets, arts and craft events, outdoor movies, tree planting days, live music events, mosaic days, shared dinners, BBQs and picnics creates a real sense of community.

Does the Village have its Own Dos and Don’ts?

Yes, By-Laws cover common property, building designs, energy efficiency, landscaping, fencing, waste, recycling, pets, water, communications and administration. They have been developed for the benefit of all residents, to protect the surrounding environment and the special character of the EcoVillage, and to encourage a commitment to sustainability.

How is the Village Organization Structured?

The EcoVillage is governed by the Community Corporation which is made up of all lot owners. Functionally, most day-to day decisions are made by its own elected team of residents on the Management Committee. In addition, sub-committees deal with specific issues such as arts, community development, house designs, services natural environment, and communications.

What Makes the Village Environmentally Sustainable?

Everything from sewage treatment to energy provision, from landscaping to housing design, will incorporate principles of environmental sustainability. Food gardens (private and community) will provide a direct clean food source for residents and visitors. Biodiversity is supported through revegetation and retention of natural landscapes. Urban design will place human requirements before those of automation and renewable sources of energy will be used extensively to power domestic, commercial and community facilities.

The Village Community:

The Village is like many commercial housing developments whereby your privacy and lifestyle choices are not compromised. A big difference however, will be the principles that surround you such as encouragement of creativity, environmental awareness, traditional community values and a local business development.

Community is about diversity, support, and opportunity.
